CNN White House correspondent Suzanne Malveaux, reporting from Cincinnati with President Bush, just totally told anchor Joe Johns to go pound sand while she got herself organized, forcing CNN to fumble for some patriotism and fill live airtime with the playing of the National Anthem from the Reds/Cubs game:
JOHNS: CNN's Suzanne Malveaux joins us on the phone...Suzanne what is it you're learning [about a possible White House shakeup?]
MALVEAUX: Are we connected in? Can I hang up the cell phone now?
JOHNS: [Nervous chuckle]: Sure...Suzanne, can you hear me?
MALVEAUX: [Huffily, like Alicia Silverstone in "Clueless" to some poor dweeb trying to get her attention]: Yeah...I need to hang up this line.
JOHNS: Ok...while you do that, uh....let's pause and listen to the National Anthem....
Nice. Very professional stuff out of Cincinnati this afternoon.
