Orwell lives at the Huffington Post

Written By mista sense on Monday, April 10, 2006 | 8:19 AM

We all know George Orwell's classic condemnation of propaganda and politically-motivated lies from his novel "1984": "War is peace; freedom is slavery; ignorance is strength." Now, courtesy of the Huffington Post, add one more tenet to the list: lies are analysis. Take Eric Boehlert's complaint that Fox News "ignored" and "was silent" on the story that Jared Paul Stern, a reporter at the News Corp-owned New York Post was in trouble for extorting a source:

Surprise! Fox News Ignores Page Six Extortion Story...The story broke on Friday. It took Fox News more than 48 hours to mention the name "Jared Paul Stern" on the air, along with just single reference to "Page Six," according to TVEyes.com.

So, in other words, Fox News reported the story. Will someone please enlighten me as to how "reporting" is "ignoring"? War is peace...

UPDATE 3:55PM: FNC's Trace Gallagher, in for Shep Smith today, is doing an extensive piece on the Jared Paul Stern story on "Studio B" right now....how inconvenient for haters like Boehlert.
