Cable Stalker

"Gawker Stalker" has gotten a lot of attention lately, good and bad. My take on celebrity complaints about Gawker Stalker is that G.S. at least partially belongs in the category of "you asked for the job": the job of celebrity, that is. By definition, you can't be a celebrity if nobody defines you as one. But the jury's still out on G.S., overall.

But then I saw this today--and no two ways about it, it's not even juicy enough to be ethically questionable: its just lame. Behold MSNBC's Hardball's version of Gawker Stalker, Tipsters & Pixsters:

Have you seen your politicians and politicos out and about? This is your forum for sharing color in a gray world of politics. Who'd you see? What were they doing? What did they say? Let us know! Send us your story, pictures or video.

This is so ripe for a Darwin Award--as in, some dipwad Hardball fan with a cell phone camera rushes a Cabinet secretary with a security detail in a Chevy Chase department store on a Sunday and ends up with, at minimum, a broken everything.

But fortunately, there seems to be no danger of any of that yet--because "Tipsters and Pixsters" is, ahem, in that awkward stage, judging by one of its featured photos...correspondent David Shuster hanging out with some ducks!!!

And oooh! oooh! oooh! Did I mention the pic of former Secretary of State Madeline Albright chilling with Former White House Counterterrorism Chief Richard Clarke at Reagan National Airport?

(My guess at a caption: Clarke: "Say, see that idiot over there pretending that he's not taking our picture with his cell phone?" Albright: "Yeah, don't you wish we were still in power so we could have the Secret Service shoot him?"
