In the artbook that came with the Metal Gear Solid 4 limited edition (yes, I bought that even though I have a review copy), I learned something kind of neat. Apparently, back in 1987, the original Metal Gear was an MSX2 exclusive, because Konami wanted to support the struggling underdog system as it was getting a drubbing from the Famicom. How ironic, given the current console war and the fourth MGS game's status as "PS3 savior."
Also, I was six years old in 1987. Crazy.
