CNN ditches its Saturday financial lineup, no one notices

In the wake of the tragic demise of CNNfn, CNN is scuttling two Saturday morning business shows--"Dolans Unscripted" and "The Turnaround"-- and hoping Wolf Blitzer's "Situation Room" will take up the slack:
"CNN U.S. president Jon Klein noted that financial reporting will continue on a new three-hour daily program called 'The Situation Room,' set to debut Aug. 8.....'We're not backing away from business coverage, we are finding new and better ways to showcase it,' Klein told the Daily News....CNN has seen its ratings drop by double digits on Saturday mornings with the launch of its personal finance block. Fox News Channel's business shows are doubling CNN's ratings on Saturday mornings."
What is amazing to me is "The Turnaround" was essentially a reality television show. News itself is the original reality television. And CNN paid an outside company to produce "The Turnaround." For a news organization to pay to manufacture drama like that is kind of like paying for oxygen. Actually, it's so crazy, it's like Michael Jackson sleeping in his hyperbaric oxygen tank.
