Important to note that Fox News' Shep Smith is showing the same compassionate presence of mind under extreme duress in Israel that he showed during Katrina, as this partial transcript of an exclusive interview with the wife and father of kidnapped Israeli soldier Ehud Goldwasser shows:

SMITH: If you could speak to those who have taken him, what would you say?

SHLOMO GOLDWASSER [Father]: I know that I cannot speak to them, but I try to speak to humanitarian organizations and to try to get any information from his capturers if he’s alive. That’s all I want. I told you, I’m not a politician. I am his father, and I want to know that he’s alive. That’s all my message is. That’s all what I want and all that I need.

ELAT KRANIT GOLDWASSER [Wife]: For us to bring a message for now. After that bring Ehudy to me.

SMITH: You have great hope and faith?

ELAT KRANIT GOLDWASSER: Yes, yes.

SMITH: No signs yet?

ELAT KRANIT GOLDWASSER: No. This is why I need help. I need help.

SMITH: How do you go on day to day, knowing that such enormous world affairs surrounds now your only child? How do you keep positive and move on with life? Where do you find strength?

SHLOMO GOLDWASSER: Listen, there was a tsunami in the Java islands and lots of people died. Disasters are happening every now and then and everywhere. People are dying and people are killing. The world will continue with their lives. We carry on. You don’t finish to live when something happens to you, but we want our son back. Everyone wants him back. And for us, this is the biggest disaster. Not the tsunami in Java or any other war in Iraq. But when things happen, people continue to live, and that’s what will happen with us.
