Meet the "Blondie" in John Gibson's life...

...It's his horse, Goldie! Very cool John Gibson item for you equestrians and outdoorsy types: the Fox News Channel "Big Story" host is profiled in this month's "Horse and Rider" magazine. Check it out:
Why I Ride: John Gibson
Home base: Texas
Age: 59
Occupation: Host of Fox News Channel's "The Big Story" (weekdays at 5pm ET); bestselling author
Riding resume: Drawn into cutting in 2004 by his wife Susan, an avid competitor; sidelined by a riding accident in December of that year
His horse: San Lena Gold, a 14-year-old Doc O'Lena/Peppy San Badger-bred cutting mare formerly owned by Buster and Sheila Welch
Buckle lust: "I'd just finished writing Hating America: The New World Sport and just started riding, and I really wanted a buckle. It was a December day at our ranch, kind of cold, and I'd loped Goldie, but not enough. She got out in front of the cow, then started bucking. I wound up breaking my pelvis and a few ribs."
Good as Goldie: "Actually, she's a very nice horse. She loves to cut and has a dramatic, swoopy style, but she is a 'blondie' and it's sometimes hard to get the fresh out of her. Now she's winning like crazy with my wife, so I've got my eye out for a bombproof gelding."
Why he rides: "It's pure fun. When you're out in front of a cow--that is a ride. Plus, the people are great. My friends in the Muenster Cutting Horse Association got together and gave me a 'mercy buckle.'"
Moving on from one sport to another, check out John's latest "My Word" providing some much-needed perspective on the World Cup head-butt:
...One crummy little head-butt and you would have thought the world had ended. I've seen worse in peewee hockey. Much worse in baseball, basketball and football. We all have....
On a more serious note, I see that Roger Friedman will have a first look at Oliver Stone's "World Trade Center" on "The Big Story" this afternoon--I saw the trailer in the theater last weekend, and "overwhelming" is not the word. Will be interesting to hear the reax on the show today.
