Just ran a story over at Worlds in Motion about how Rez and Lumines mastermind Tetsuya Mizuguchi's gonna be working with a Japanese ad agency to build a virtual Tokyo in Second Life. Apparently they're less focused on making an architecturally accurate duplicate of the city than they are on capturing the vibe and feel of the place-- sort of a love-letter to Japanese culture, it would seem. For one, they're going to put a giant ski jump in the middle.
Am I crazy for thinking Mizuguchi's vision of Tokyo will contain endless stretches of technicolor-washed rave clubs populated by ecstasy-addled young folk with pink hair and candy necklaces? And vibrators?
