"For News Corporation, Fox News Is Now the Major Player"--that's the headline atop Tim Arango's piece in The New York Times this morning. It's quite a piece, breathtaking in the scope of its assertions about Fox:
These days, with the economy and the Internet battering all corners of the media universe, Rupert Murdoch would be nothing without Roger Ailes.
News Corporation, the media conglomerate controlled by Mr. Murdoch, operates all over the media spectrum — movies, social networking with MySpace, broadcast television, newspapers and book publishing — but if it weren’t for the financial success of Fox News, overseen by Mr. Ailes, the company would be in deep crisis.
Rupert Murdoch is still the boss, of course, but it's clear that Roger Ailes is right there with him.
