CNBC Paying a Price for Being Owned by GE?

As TCG observed this morning, GE's incestuous relationship with the Obama administration is sure to hurt its various media properties. And that incestuous relationship comes on top of the basic reality that liberalism looks a lot worse to the average American today, when Barack Obama is in the White House actually doing things, than it did when George W. Bush was in the White House. That is, the actual practice of liberalism plays a lot worse than the theory of liberalism.

If so, then NBC/MSNBC/CNBC will be hurt, because they will look stooges for, and enablers for, failed policies. And that could explain why CNBC is tumbling in the ratings, as noted by Tyler Durden of Zero Hedge. 37 percent year over year in total audience, and 26 percent in the demo. Wow.

It would help if CNBC gave a populist truth-teller, such as Rick Santelli, his own show, because he could be--or at least he could have been relied upon--to tell the truth. But CNBC has been brought to heel, editorially, by the pro-Obama line of GE, and that's killed CNBC's credibility, and thus its viewership.
