CNN Doubles Down on "Wrong Report-gate"

"CNN unapologetic after Coast Guard report." That's Michael Calderone, of Politico, being almost too polite when he writes about Potomac-gate, also known as Wrong Report-gate. That is, CNN seems determined to say that it did the right thing in reporting "shots fired" in the middle of the Potomac on Friday, and someone should say that a) CNN got it totally wrong; b) CNN jeopardized our national serenity, if not our national security; c) CNN should simply apologize; and and d) if it really wanted to underscore its commitment to doing better, CNN would fire someone.
Instead, CNN is stonewalling. As Calderone puts it:
I’m surprised the CNN isn’t at least expressing regret for jumping the gun on this story, including putting out this ominous tweet on the anniversary of 9/11: "BREAKING NEWS: Suspicious boat in river near Obama in DC. Police scanner reports of shots fired. Circumstances unclear."
Unclear, indeed.
