Last week I took note of rumors about Joe Scarborough running for office--perhaps even seeking the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. Which means, of course, that Joe would be running against Barack Obama. Last night I wondered aloud that maybe Keith Olbermann decision to bring up the idea, out of the blue, of a 2012 Democratic primary challenge to Barack Obama. It sure seems like MSNBC, "the place for politics," is producing politics, as well as covering politics.
And now comes news, from Mediaite, that Scarborough seems to watch Fox and CNN, but not MSNBC, as he indicated through his Tweets on Twitter. Kinda interesting, huh? Perhaps Joe figures that his MSNBC affiliation won't do him any good with Republicans, so he is signaling that he prefers other channels. So if he does run for office, he will seem more acceptable to non-Daily Kos Americans.
If Jeff Immelt and Jeff Zucker, the masters of GE and NBC, don't like the idea of MSNBC-er Olbermann running as a Democrat against Obama, how would they feel about MSNBC-er Scarborough running as a Republican? Which would the Jeffs like less? It's hard to know.
