The AP's David Bauder slices and dices MSNBC, noting that the "news" channel stuck with pre-taped programming--stories about prisons, re-runs of "Dateline," etc.--even as CNN and Fox were covering the near-disaster in Detroit.
As Bauder puts it:
MSNBC may need to prove its news commitment to viewers. With news of the attempted terrorist attack on a plane bound for Detroit breaking late on Christmas, the network stuck with pre-taped programming. CNN and Fox covered the story much more extensively.
But in the meantime, MSNBC was curled up for the winter, sleeping through yet another big weekend story.
