"CNN Tells Advertisers 'For The CNN Brands, Prime Time Is All The Time'” Do you know what that means? What the logic behind that sentence might be?
Neither does The Cable Gamer. And neither does Mediaite's "Krak" writer, Steve Krakauer, seems puzzled, too, as this post attests. If CNN is losing in prime time, why would it brag about losing everywhere?
Or, try this: CNN poobah Jim Walton, president of CNN Worldwide, told Matea Gold at the LA Times, “I’m not satisfied with the ratings, but I’m not concerned.” Not satisfied, but not concerned. Any more questions? The Cable Gamer continues to marvel at the nine lives of Jon Klein, the CNN USA chief who has presided over CNN's plummet into fourth place in America. (TCG doesn't know how CNN's ratings are doing overseas--who knows? Maybe Klein is looking good to the rest of the network!)
But the best line goes to Fox, which is killing CNN with understatement these days. As Krak puts it, getting a quote from Fox that ropes in Walton and his boss-of-bosses, Jeff Bewkes, president of Time-Warner:
Never one to hold back, a Fox News spokesperson had this to say to Mediaite after the event: “If Mr. Bewkes is satisfied with Jim’s explanation for the dreadful performance of his cable news division, then who are we to judge?”
Pow!
