"The central portal for all media." That's the claim being made on behalf of YouTube, by Henry Jenkins, a professor at USC, quoted in the LA Times:
"YouTube has become a lot of things at once," Jenkins said. "It's become the first place people turn to for both amateur and professional media, the central portal for all media."
YouTube aims to be the go-to place for content, period. As such, it poses an interesting challenge to all other content-providers.
