David Shuster's "Astroturf" campaign?

The Cable Gamer notes, with amusement, this Facebook campaign to help David Shuster, the disgraced former Fox and soon-to-be-former MSNBC correspondent.
"Somebody" has set up a Facebook campaign Shuster. But who could it be? As it reads in its mission statement:
We agree that David Shuster must be punished for being one of the most dogged and honorable journalists working in cable news. After detweeting & indefinite suspension, the only way to make sure he learns his lesson is GIVE HIM HIS OWN DAMNED SHOW.
Yes, there's a bit of cheeky irony to this effort, or should I say, "faux cheeky irony," it, as in a feature offering "top ten reasons to punish David Shuster with his own show," (see screen grab above--what a bunch of wit!). But but for the most part, it's a transparent effort to suggest that "the people" want Shuster to get back on the air.
Who could be inspiring such as this? Eh, David?
The Cable Gamer thinks that the right word for what is happening here is "astroturfing," as in, "fake grassroots."
TCG concedes the possibility that Shuster might still have some fans, but she suspects that this is a Shuster-driven operation. So that origin question is a little question.
The bigger question is what makes anyone--Shuster or whoever--think that such a campaign will succeed.
Face it, David, nobody wants you in TV anymore. Try p.r.
