Exit with a cliche: Larry King wants to spend more time with his family.

Larry King is stepping down from CNN, to spend more time with his family, as they always say.  As King puts it, retirement will mean "giving me more time for my wife and I to get to the kids’ little league games."

As a commenter at TV By The Numbers noted, isn't King getting divorced?  Are we sure that Mrs. King, Shawn Southwick wants anything to do with Larry?   Anymore than Larry the Lover's six previous wives?  According to the gossipers, she's a lot more interested in her kids' baseball coach.    But officially, Mr. and Mrs. King are not getting divorced, so no doubt Shawn will love having Larry around. 

Yet it's interesting, in the statements put out by both King, CNN prexy Jon Klein, and official CNN (who's that?  James Earl Jones?) there's no mention of the "r" word--ratings.  Not surprising.
