"Klein's departure indicates a lack of confidence in this whole 'Parker Spitzer' and Piers Morgan thing"

"Klein's departure indicates a lack of confidence in this whole 'Parker Spitzer' and Piers Morgan thing"--so says famed pop culture expert Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University, adding, "That's a lineup I certainly wouldn't want to put my money on."   That's from Keach Hagey's report on Jon Klein's departure, bannered across the top of  Politico tonight--see screengrab above.

For good measure, Hagey snags another quote, attributed to a former industry executive, who called Klein's firing, "A total lack of confidence in the Spitzer show."

And Aaron "The Dentist" Brown, the former CNN anchor now put out to pasture in Arizona, weighs in with these not-to-kind comments, suggesting that Klein should have been "blown up" a long time ago:

"Why are you blowing him up now?” Brown asked. “It makes no sense to me. It makes perfect sense that they’d blow him up. They have the worst ratings in 10 years. But I’d have blown him up a year ago.”
