Finally, Investor's Business Daily brings some clarity and honesty to the kerfluffle over Fox News' Bill Sammon. As the editorial notes, maybe Barack Obama is left to the point of being, perhaps, a socialist. It's not a crime to be a socialist, although it might be bad politics. But one can't fault Sammon for noting the possibility. Here's an excerpt from the IBD edit:
It's an open secret the roots of the American left's agenda are in European socialism. Though we disagree strongly with them, we could name some respectable socialists — George Orwell for one.
Those scandalized by Sammon's editorial judgment and "dishonesty" are themselves intellectually dishonest. And Sammon shouldn't be so diffident about defending his efforts at getting the taxonomy right.
