Greg Kelly: Vets don't shout "incoming" when reporting on WH budget battles

TV Newser reports that Greg Kelly has been promoted to White House Correspondent at FNC. Kelly holds the rank of Major in the Marine Corps Reserves, has made over 100 carrier landings as a fighter pilot, and was mortared as a FNC embed with the Army's Third Infantry Division in Iraq. In a city where people who've never served love to cry "Lock and load" and "incoming!" when referring to spats over legislation or subpoenas, it's poetic justice that someone like Kelly will have the definitive word on the remains of the political day. I'm guessing he won't call a verbal tiff during a Rose Garden press conference a "bloodbath." FNC has a real winner in Kelly, who, incidentally, had THE most astonishing reporting from Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The guy was the first journalist to cross into Baghdad and he did it while being shot at in an Abrams.

(With gratitude to Chris Buckley for the original observation on grenade-throwing suits, noted originally in his extremely funny collection of essays on life in Washington and elsewhere, "Wry Martinis")
