Wolf Blitzer: competitive. Yet not competitive. But always himself. What?

"Wolf Blitzer says he 'can't get overexcited' about cable news ratings that show CNN regularly bested by Fox News Channel.

"'You think about it because you're competitive,' he told Inside TV & Radio while preparing for today's launch of CNN's new 'Situation Room,' a three-hour news block airing from 2 to 5 p.m. 'You want to be number one, whether you're in news or playing tennis.

"'I welcome the competition,' he says. 'It makes me better.'

"The marching orders that the 57-year-old Blitzer has received from CNN president Jon Klein have been 'to be what I am, not to be somebody I'm not.'"

There you go. Everything CNN presidents and anchors really need to know, they learned in kindergarten.
