FTV Live (subscription) is asking all the right questions about a link between the oh-so-coincidental Anderson Cooper exclusive with Angelina Jolie and interview with country music couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and the $4 million People magazine paid for the Angelina baby pictures, as well as Tim and Faith on the cover of People this week. As FTVLive asks, "Insiders are wondering if People is at it once again -- cutting package deals to help out CNN and Coop in their quest to become the celebrity news network?" Crazy in love indeed...
Another wink and nudge deal for Anderson Cooper 360?
A few weeks ago, FTVLive was FIRST to make the connection between Anderson Cooper's interview with Angelina Jolie and the $4 million People Magazine paid for pictures of her baby (CNN denies that there was any deal at all).
At the time, speculation was rampant that Cooper's "get" was part of a package deal. Now the connection between the two Time Warner entities once again has insiders scratching their heads.
Cooper had an interview last week with Faith Hill and Tim McGraw . . . Turns out the couple was also featured on the cover of this week's People Magazine. Anyone else seeing a trend here?
Now granted.... Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are not in Jolie's league when it comes to "gets." But it does seem odd that once again, celebrities featured on the cover of a Time Warner owned magazine pop up on Cooper's show.
Insiders are wondering if People is at it once again -- cutting package deals to help out CNN and Coop in their quest to become the celebrity news network? Perhaps CNN should cut Larry Hackett (People Editor in Chief) an extra check every week for running a magazine AND being a booker for Anderson Cooper 360.
We're sure that CNN will once again deny that there was any wink and nudge deal to land Faith and Tim on 360....but as they say when it sounds and walks like a duck.
