A former South Korean soldier was not, apparently, hardcore like Big Boss, because he's now permanently disabled after contracting a parasitic infection from raw snakes he ate during survival training. He's now had pain in his stomach and legs for four years, and has undergone two surgeries to deal with the infection. Earlier this week, a Seoul court ruled the poor guy is eligible for special wounded vets' benefits, though.
During the court battle, the defense argued that the parasitic infection could have come from any source, not necessarily the soldier's survivalist serpent snacks. Um, duh-- it was the poison frogs, man. You're supposed to feed those to the Fear.
