Bloomberg To Buy Business Week mag?

The Cable Gamer admits that she never watches Bloomberg TV, but she recognizes that Bloomberg is a legit, albeit obscure, player in The Cable Game. But that could change--Bloomberg is not to be underestimated as a force in the media. And that point was underscored by a report that I saw here in Silicon Alley Insider,based on a NYP story, that Bloomberg is thinking about buying Business Week. BW has fallen on hard times, of course, but it's a great brand, and the appetite for business news, around the world, continues to grow.

But it was interesting to see this graf, which suggests that any magazine purchases, as well as the TV channel, are vanity projects/loss leaders:

Bloomberg isn't afraid of losing money to build its brand. Its television and radio operations are reported to lose money. The magazine probably loses money. The website can't be making much money either. However, they all provide added reach for the company, which is awash in cash from its terminal business.
