Olbermann is doubling down. Last night he updated his Daily Kos post of yesterday, calling for "help"--read, "dirt"--on Roger Ailes, Glenn Beck, and even Beck's radio producer. Olbermann updated his post, to say that he was only going after Beck because Beck was going after Obama officials.
Now think about that for a moment. Beck didn't say that he was seeking information about Olbermann, or anyone at MSNBC, he said he was going after Cass Sunstein, Mark Lloyd, and Carol Browner--three Obama officials, or would-be Obama officials. But to Olbermann, that's casus belli--war. It would almost make you think that Olbermann sees it as his job, or something, to defend Obama. Or to attack those who would attack Obama.
That's a lot of water to carry for the government, but Olbermann is up for it--even to the point of seeking out the help of Kos-sacks.
But hilariously, MSNBC took Monday off--it was all re-runs of crime- and prison shows; the usual MSNBC weekend fare, held over for an extra day. So The Cable Gamer wonders if the Obama administration thinks that it has been getting its money's worth out of MSNBC--at a time when the Obamans are reeling from the Van Jones news, it would've helped the Obama cause to have, say, Rachel Maddow sliming Dick Cheney, just to change the subject, or at least to give MSNBC-niks something to think about, other than the failings of The One. But instead, the bean-counters at NBC and GE seem to have prevailed over any news instincts--or even propaganda instincts--that MSNBC might have, and so the Obama White House lost a day.
But tonight is the big night, Olbermann promises, when he will unleash on Beck--that's just 2 1/2 hours from now!
Wheels up, Cable Gamers!
