Remember John Ferriter? He's the agent that gained attention three years ago for trying to convince Fox News to push aside "Fox & Friends" host Gretchen Carlson and replace her with one of his clients, Kiran Chetry, who was then also at Fox. As detailed three years ago by The Cable Gamer, here, here and here, Ferriter succeeded only in derailing Chetry's career, by seemingly convincing her to agree to his plan to stab Gretchen in the back, and then, for sure, convincing her to leave Fox and go to CNN, where, of course, she has hardly been heard from since.
Oh, and he also made a permanent and total enemy out of Fox--Fox lawyer Dianne Brandi wrote:
"[You have] treated Fox News with such arrogant disregard that we do not desire to do any further business with you ... You and your client's unprofessional demand that we include a clause in her agreement which would have been detrimental to other Fox talent, is simply not the way we do business. We had hoped that Ms. Chetry would have a bright future with the Fox News Channel, however this negotiation has now become more trouble than it is worth.
To put it mildly, such a public blast can't be good for a TV agent's career.
And now, in late 2009, we see proof that what goes around, comes around--and then some. The New York Times reports that Ferriter has been "pushed out" from the newly merged firm of William Morris Endeavor. Ferriter is suing for something, the trial should be fun. Maybe Chetry can cover it--if she's still speaking to him.
