Jeff Immelt's blunt words are proof that GE's sale of NBC-U is really going to happen. Welcome back to America, Jeff!

So GE's CEO, Jeff Immelt, has let loose on China, and on Barack Obama, with a belated burst of candor.

According to Henry Blodget of The Business Insider, picking up on a Financial Times story, Immelt thinks that China, and Obama, are both threats to the US.  His p.r. people are weaseling around on his exact words, but both Blodget and the FT are standing firm.

Immelt is right, of course, in what he said--even if he regrets saying it.

But Immelt wasn't so candid when GE was pushing for cap & trade, or when GE was waiting in line for govenrment bailouts for its GE Capital division, or when its NBC-Universal properties--most obviously, MSNBC--were/are sucking up to the Obamans.  But now that GE's sale of NBC-U is nearly completed, Immelt is giving himself permission to speak freely.

It's nice to have Immelt back on our side, but of course, he's a little late.
